Mohs surgery requires a highly trained dermatologic surgeon. Both Dr. Clark and Dr. Flynn are Fellows of the American College of Mohs Surgery, Diplomates of the American Board of Dermatology (Board Certified) and Fellows of the American Academy of Dermatology. They work together as a team with our staff to provide you with efficient and comprehensive care.

Robert E. Clark, MD, PhD

Dr. Clark was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended and graduated with honors from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Dr. Clark earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his internship in the Department of Medicine in Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.  His dermatology residency and dermatologic surgery fellowship were completed at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.  Dr. Clark also holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Illinois.

Dr. Clark was the Director of the Dermatologic Surgery & Cutaneous Oncology Unit and the Cosmetic Laser Center at Duke University Medical Center from 1990-1998. He is recognized as a leader in the field of dermatologic surgery, treatment of skin cancer, and laser surgery. He has lectured and trained physicians nationally and internationally in laser surgery and cosmetic procedures.

Dr. Clark has multiple interests including karate, classical music, hunting, and camping.

doctor sarah vieta
Sarah E. Vieta, MD

Dr. Sarah E. Vieta was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She received her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Notre Dame. She received her Doctor of Medicine with honors from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed her internship in the Department of Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.  Dr. Vieta received her dermatology residency training at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, NY, where she served as chief resident in her final year of residency.  Dr. Vieta then went on to complete an American College of Mohs Surgery accredited Micrographic Surgery & Dermatologic Oncology (Mohs) fellowship in Miami, FL.

Dr. Vieta is acknowledged as an expert in skin cancer and dermatologic surgery, and was awarded the Excellence in Dermatology Award at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She is active in multiple dermatologic societies.

Dr. Vieta lives with her husband and son in Pinehurst, NC.

Timothy C. Flynn, MD

Dr. Flynn was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri. He received his undergraduate and medical diplomas from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Dr. Flynn completed his internal medicine residency at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, and his dermatology residency at Stanford University where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Flynn’s Dermatologic and Mohs Micrographic Surgery fellowship was completed at Washington University in St. Louis. He has also been a research fellow at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Flynn developed the Dermatologic Surgery and Mohs Micrographic Surgery program at Tulane University in New Orleans and served as its director from 1993-2001. He is currently a clinical professor for the Department of Dermatology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Flynn is acknowledged as an expert in skin cancer and dermatologic surgery, and is the immediate past president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Flynn is recognized as a superb teacher, greatly in demand on a national and international basis. He is active in multiple dermatologic societies.

Dr. Flynn interests include music, cooking and bicycling. He and his wife Gina have two sons, Collin and Evan.

Our staff is comprised of a team of healthcare professionals that  have been carefully selected for their skills, achievements and their commitment to provide our patients with quality care and attention.  We are dedicated to ensuring you receive friendly, compassionate care, as well as information about your condition and treatment.

Dan R. Ecclestone, Certified Physician Assistant

Dan was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and completed physician assistant training at the State University of New York-Stony Brook. Dan has over fifteen years experience and is a Diplomat of the Society for Dermatology Physician Assistants and member of the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants.

He is married with two children and enjoys boating with his family and staying fit.

Steve A. Watson, Certified Physician Assistant

Steve was born and raised in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Zoology and  Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from North Carolina State University. Steve received a Master of Health Sciences degree from Duke University and completed physician assistant training at Duke University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants and the Triangle Area Physician Assistants.

He is married with two children and enjoys attending hockey games and camping with his family.

Wendy L. Jaget, Certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner

Wendy was born in New Jersey and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from North Carolina State University and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Wake Technical Community College. She received her Master of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Wendy has over 14 years’ experience as a registered nurse with the majority being in the field of dermatology and Mohs surgery. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association and North Carolina Nurses Association.

Wendy enjoys riding her horses and hiking with her dog.

The Cary Skin Center is conveniently located on the corner NC Highway 55 and High House/Green Level Road in Cary, NC. We offer free on-site parking with easily accessible patient drop-off, Wi-Fi and comfortable patient lobby. 

Our eco-friendly initiatives include utilizing an electronic medical records (EMR) and online patient registration system to reduce paper usage, installing a bio retention unit to remove pollutants from stormwater runoff and protect the local watershed, and offering ceramic coffee mugs at our beverage station to reduce material waste.
